This is the Penguin cam 1a located in Antarctica, it belongs to the station Gars O'Higgins.
The webcam at King Edward Point is situated in Larsen House. The view is south east across Cumberland Bay East to the Greene Peninsula and the mountains beyond. Dartmouth Point is in the middle ground and Susa Point in the foreground.
From october to april the cam shows breeding activities of Gentoo penguins, in the background you can see some icebergs and the rough mountain range of the antarctic peninsula!
View to "W" (German Station), webcam operating with the help of the german research station O'Higgins
Looking into the southern direction. The Mt Jacquinot is 474 m high. The mountain is for us an indicator for flight-weather.
The webcam is at the northwest corner of the station (the wind) assembled and look in Southwest toward the radio telescope (antenna) and the small penguin colony right in the wind shadow of the antenna
The new station can be seen to the right in the photo; the old (circa 1973) domed station is to the left. The new station is elevated above the snow to prevent it being buried by the drifting snow.
